A woman’s mane is her pride and glory and rightfully so as healthy, shining, well maintained hair can enhance your look, giving your face a younger, slimmer and healthier look. In today’s day and age however, it is doubly difficult to maintain and manage a healthy mane because, while the polluted environment can wreak havoc with our hair in no time, our lifestyles do not allow us enough time to give our tresses the pampering they deserve. Keeping this in mind, we have put together a few easy tips and tricks you can easily incorporate into your hair routine and be well on your way to healthy lustrous hair that is the envy of everyone around you.
· It is essential that you use a conditioner every time you shampoo your hair because it not only provides your hair with much needed nourishment, it also forms a forms a protective film around your hair that prevents it from getting damaged easily. Those of you with fine silky hair can opt for light conditioners whereas heavier conditioner is required for coarser hair types.
· While shampooing your hair, concentrate on massaging the shampoo onto your scalp rather than rubbing shampoo into your hair. Doing the latter damages your hair more than it cleans it, besides the shampoo/lather that trickles down from your scalp is usually enough to get the length of your hair squeaky clean.
· To prevent frizzy hair, rinse your hair using cold water towards the end of your shower. This will close your hair follicles sealing in the moisture and resulting in shiny hair. If you have extremely dry hair however, add a leave-in conditioner to your hair wash routine to completely rid your hair of frizz and make it manageable.
· Never ever (we cannot stress on this enough) use any kind of conditioner or serum on your scalp. Committing this faux pas will result in greasy, grimy looking hair that sticks to your scalp. Conditioners and serums are meant to be applied on ends and lightly through the length of your hair.
· Wet hair is more delicate and brittle than dry hair, so we advise you to use a wide tooth comb and be patient while combing out wet hair.
· Indulge in a hot oil massage once or twice a month. While the oil will repair and condition you hair, the massage will improve blood circulation to your scalp thus resulting in healthy hair.
· If you are using heat styling tools such as blow dryers and/or hair irons make sure to use a heat protective serum before hand to keep your hair from getting fried over time. Also, before using hair irons make sure your hair is completely dry as even the slightest moisture in your hair while ironing will result in permanently damaged hair.
· Get haircuts/trims once every 2-3 months. This will prevent issues such as split ends and keep your hair looking healthy. Regular trimming is also said to boost the rate at which your hair grows.
We promise these tips will not add more than a couple of minutes to your routine, but will result in infinitely healthier and lustrous hair making bad hair days nothing but a vague memory!
