Street Fashion- Here to stay!

There are times when I’m reading through VOGUE or ELLE, and I’m looking at these amazing editorial photo shoots and incredible clothes, shoes and accessories, and I think to myself, “No one looks like this! No one in real life can pull this off!”

Then I hop from the glossy to the screen.

While I’m not exactly giving up fashion magazines but getting ideas and style inspiration from celebs dressing up helps me forms my very own style with a dash of my personality and personal style.

Street fashion for me right now is also a big part of where I get my inspiration. I love to people watch be it at the airport, a café or simply just at the supermarket. It can be anywhere, today street fashion has made its way into the world of blogs. An increasing number of blogs now feature fashion on real people, and show how trends are applied in the street.

Few of the street styles I have loved and gotten inspiration from are:

Waistcoat worn on a plain tee-shirt or a shirt with jeans, shorts or pants it can make it look casual worn with denims or formal worn with trousers on a shirt.

Wayfarers sunglasses today are a huge trend! everyone and anyone have a pair of them. This classic design has been around for almost 60 years since its design and manufacture and has spun its way back into fashion today.Wayfarer’s have been largely down to the sheer number of celebrities sporting the Ray-Ban eye wear and the power they have of influencing the fashion choices of the general public, but whatever said and done I think this design of sunglasses suit every face structure and colour.

High waisted belts They're back and it looks like they're here to stay...The waist belt certainly packs a punch if you're wanting to make a real fashion statement. Team your waist cincher with a fitted shirt or tight vest top for that true diva style glamour or wear with a floaty top or dress for a more casual belted look.

High waisted pants/skirts/shorts If you are a fashion enthusiast you might have perceived a large variety of high waists displayed during the fashion week and obviously, many personalities in the fashion industry were highly interested in those. These days, many celebrity and fashion magazines feature your favorite actresses in these which will upsurge your curiosity. Many of us have seen these in old Hollywood movies and assumed that these are outdated style statements. Even though the concepts of high waists are quite old, they possess quite an elegant look and these are ideal for women with various body shapes.

 Shorter Women - For short women, wearing high raises can create an illusion of being taller. They can entice a better visual presence compared to the traditional pants and this impression can be manipulated again with the ideal type of shoes.
 Broad Hips - If you have broad hips that you want to conceal, there is nothing better than these pants. You can look fabulous with these; especially if you choose to wear pants with longer pockets.
 For Bigger Back - When you choose these pants without much details on the rear side with thin pockets, you can look leaner from the back

There was a time, not so very long ago (though, granted, it was towards the end of the last century) that elite boutique buyers and fashion editors were the only ones privy to the secrets of the catwalk and upcoming trends. We, as consumers, would wait patiently for one season to end and the new one to start before we were granted a peep at the new collections? Four or five months after they’d been unveiled, but today it’s another scene all together. People from all across the globe have evolved and developed their very own signature style right here on the streets. Be it London, India, China, Paris, L.A, New-York. People have learnt to dress smart and portray their personalities onto the streets through their clothes just like me.

Today Mumbai as a city as also evolved and yes we do have our very own distinct style.
Experimentation and evolution of fashion in India is happening. Street fashion in India is all mixed up because of the various influences I guess. I specially admire the way people from the north-east carry themselves. I feel, now, people are experimenting and taking fashion more seriously than before. Instead of criticizing the ever-stuck fashion arena in India with "Zardosi and traditional attire", there is a necessity to look at common people who keep a low profile but experiment with silhouettes, colour, texture and look, giving an Indian identity to an Indian psyche and not just aping the West blindly.
